Tests

Lauzon Pure Genius technology has been repeatedly tested in expert independent European and North American laboratories.

These tests were designed to demonstrate the capacity and consistency of Pure Genius to degrade common contaminants in both closed (without air exchange with the exterior) and open (with constant air exchange and real-time addition of contaminated air) environments.

The laboratory test methods use standardized light sources that are slightly different than those found in most households. To make sure that Pure Genius works in your home the way it does in the lab, we’ve undertaken extensive testing in natural settings, as well.

Here is an overview of tests.

IT’S LIKE HAVING 3 TREES IN YOUR HOME

NOX Removal test
Performed by: Photocat A/S, Roskilde, Denmark
According to: ISO 22197-1 standard
Summary: Test using an airflow system and constant input of NOX contaminant.

Pure Genius technology acts like a tree. Trees, in addition to generating O2 from the breakdown of CO2, degrade nitrous oxides (NOX) through photosynthesis. Pure Genius flooring also breaks down NOX through its photocatalytic action. Since our flooring is used indoors it also breaks down other harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) too.

Under standardized lighting conditions, 10,000 sq ft of Pure Genius hardwood flooring is capable of removing 7.8 lbs of NOX per year – or the equivalent purifying power of 22 mature trees. This corresponds to 1 mature tree per 454 sq ft of hardwood floor.

Given average Canadian and American home sizes, Pure Genius flooring is like harnessing the cleansing effect of 3 mature trees for an average home (house averages calculated on Statistics Canada data).

INDOOR AIR UP TO 85% CLEANER

Formaldehyde Removal test
Performed by: D-Tox laboratories, Dr Bahnemann, Hanover, Germany
According to: ISO 22197-4 standard
Summary: Test using an airflow system and constant input of formaldehyde contaminant.

Pure Genius technology functions consistently and purifies air brought indoors by an air exchange system or other contamination sources in real-time.

A formaldehyde degradation index of 28 PPB was obtained in standardized test conditions. Over the course of a single hour, up to 17,5% of a constant flow of formaldehyde compound contaminants were effectively removed.

We can conservatively assume that the measured laboratory result obtained in an hour can be replicated over the course of full day in real-life conditions. Then, over the course of 30 days, with cumulative action of 8 illuminated hours a day, up to 85% of the contaminants would be eliminated provided no additional contaminants were introduced.

The level of formaldehyde in an average home is between 16 – 32.5 PPB (Health Canada). Pure Genius can reduce those levels to 5 PPB over 30 days – or a reduction of up to 85%. Levels of 40 PPB or more are harmful for your health (Health Canada).

DECOMPOSES UP TO 99,6% OF BACTERIA

Anti-microbial properties
Performed by: Tile Council of North American, USA
According to: ISO 27447:2009 standard
Summary: Test measuring the capacity to degrade bacterial and microbial sources under standardized lighting.

Pure Genius was proven to inhibit the growth of certain bacteria, pathogens and microorganisms.

Common pathogens were reduced up to 99.6% after being exposed to Pure Genius for 8 hours in standardized conditions:

  • E.coli (ATCC 8739) 99.65%: causes gastroenteritis, urinary tract infections and neonatal meningitis,
  • S.aureus (ATCC 6538P) 99.63%: an agent in the propagation of various skins conditions such as dermatitis
  • K.pneumoniae (ATCC 4352) 99.7%: a source of pneumonia

A CLEANER INTERIOR ENVIRONMENT BY 98%

Acetaldehyde Removal test
Performed by: D-Tox laboratories, Dr Bahnemann, Hanover, Germany
According to: ISO 22197-2 standard
Summary: Test using an airflow system and constant input of acetaldehyde contaminant.

Pure Genius technology functions consistently and purifies any new air brought in a home by an air exchange system or other contamination sources in real-time. An acetaldehyde degradation index of 400 PPB was obtained in standardized test conditions. Over the course of a single hour, up to 40% of a constant flow of acetaldehyde compound contaminants were removed.

We can conservatively assume that the measured laboratory result obtained in an hour can be replicated over the course of full day in real-life conditions. Then, over the course of 30 days, over cumulative action with cumulative action of 8 illuminated hours a day, up to 98,5% of the contaminant would be eliminated provided no additional contaminants were introduced.

The level of acetaldehyde in an average home is between 8.3 – 20 PPB (Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment). Pure Genius, may reduce those levels to 0,12 PPB over 30 days, which means a reduction of up to 98,5%. Levels over 5 PPM are harmful for your health (Health Canada).
